Comparative genomics

Comparative genomics can involve anything from just a few genes to whole genomes. The amount of useful information will vary according to the type of information available and the genetic separation between the organisms.

Some examples of genomes that have been compared in various ways and have yielded useful new information are:

  • Human and mouse
  • The grasses
  • Arabidopsis and Brassica spp.
