The unifying necessity of genomics...cost

  • In addition to the way genomics research unifies the biological sciences with new information by cutting across traditional disciplines, it encourages, even forces, researchers to become interdisciplinary and highly collaborative for another reason: the cost. The set up and running costs of large-scale genomics projects are too high for single researchers.

  • Large multi-institution and multi-country collaborations are now typical.
