Tying together information across species: an exam


 This figure has become the classic example of comparative genomics. It illustrates how many of the grass genomes can be related to the rice genome. Knowing the location or function of a gene in one of the grasses has a predictive (though not necessarily 100%!) value for the other grasses. We will discuss this further in module 4 (Applications and discoveries).
