Large scale computational genomics
Of course, many researchers wish to perform more than one database query at one time, and perhaps even BLAST an entire data set of many sequences at one time.
There are methods of doing this, sometimes called "batch" BLASTing, using additional software programs or the use of special routines (often written in the computer language Perl*) which automatically repeat a BLAST search with one query after another.
This sort of scaling-up usually requires the assistance of a bioinformatics specialist, a computer scientist or at least someone with some extra computer skills.
