Pyramiding resistance genes by MAS (2)

Germplasm: 3 isogenic lines were developed that each carried a single dominant SMV resistance gene.

Markers used: SSR markers flanking each of the 3 SMV resistance genes.

Results: Lines containing the 3 resistance genes were extremely resistant to all 6 strains of the virus, creating a much broader resistance.
