By convention, a LOD score of 3 or higher is accepted as linkage.
A score of 3.0 means that the likelihood of the observed recombination frequency occurring if the two loci are not linked (that is, by random chance) is less than 1 in 1000 (a score of 2, 1 in 100, and so on).
