Working in Groups
As you already know, most of the online learning is ‘asynchronous’, meaning that participants do not need to be online and learn together at the same time at all times – which would be difficult in our global research community in the Generation CP. Group learning however requires more than coming online once a week.
Participating in group exercises and discussions requires regular logging in to the course and an active approach to taking part in the activities, commenting, expressing personal opinions and giving feedback. The richness of the group dynamics of the course depends on the individual participation of everyone in the assignments. The course is designed in such a way that a participant having very little background in the subjects will need approximately 10 hours work per week.

Add Your Profile
Before you start with the course we would like you to update your personal profile. This is important, since it can help the other participants in getting to know you a little better. The profiles should contain information about you personally, but also about your field of work and interests and, possibly, the organisation/community you work for.

You can access all the participants’ profiles through the Course Tools scroll-down menu at the top of your screen. Choose the option Participant Profiles under the heading Community Tools.

To update your own profile, surf to the Lobby, which you can also enter through the scroll-down menu at the top of the screen. The lobby is part of the Course Tools. Once inside, you are presented with the option of updating your profile.

Try to be as complete as possible in the information you give. Knowing each other can only enhance the quality of the discussion we are bound to have in the course of the coming weeks and can facilitate some of the group building process.

Introduce Yourself: Discussion Forum

We have set up a separate forum room to introduce yourself to your fellow participants. Please click here to do so.
