Tropentag 2012 - Resilience of agricultural systems against crisis

The Tropentag 2012 is the annual International Conference on Research on Food Security, Natural Resource Management and Rural Development.jointly organised by the Universities of Bonn, Göttingen, Hohenheim, Kassel (Witzenhausen), Hamburg, ETH Zurich (Switzerland) and the Council for Tropical and Subtropical Agricultural Research (ATSAF e.V.) - in co-operation with the GIZ Advisory Service on Agricultural Research for Development (BEAF) and with an increasing involvement of the University of Prague (Czech Republic). The conference is scheduled for 19th to 21st September 2012 in Göttingen, Germany and the theme this year is Resilience of agricultural systems against crisis.

The Tropentag brings together scientists, students, graduates, development experts and funding organisations from several countries in Europe and their various international partner institutions. It is a development oriented and interdisciplinary conference. It addresses issues of resource-, environmental-, agricultural-, forestry-, fisheries-, food-, nutrition and related sciences in the context of international rural development, sustainable resource use and hunger and poverty alleviation worldwide. It welcomes all scientists, students and experts addressing topics in these fields.  Contributions pertaining to rural development, hunger and poverty alleviation, their environmental repercussions and influences of globalisation on these topics are particularly welcome.Young scientists are particularly encouraged to present their research projects and results.

Travel Grants: The European Alliance on Agrcultural Knowledge for Development, Agrinatura, is offering 8 travel grants for MSc and PhD students to participatie at Tropentag 2012. The deadline for a travel grant requests is June 1, 2012 and inquiries should be directed to secretariat@agrinature.eu.
