ICRISAT held the 4th International Workshop on Next Generation Genomics and Integrated Breeding for Crop Improvement (NGGIBCI-2014) at its headquarters from 19 – 21 February 2014.
The three-day event exhibited 37 high quality presentations across twelve scientific sessions covering next generation genomics, novel mapping approaches and QTLs, sequence to phenotype, genomics-assisted breeding, integrated breeding, breeding for target environments, genomic selection, decision support platforms for breeding, and new horizons for crop improvement. The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and its partners released forty-four new and improved rice varieties in 2013. 21 of these were released in the Philippines, six in Bangladesh, five in Myanmar, three in Nigeria, two in Tanzania, two in India, and one each in Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mozambique and Rwanda.
