Terminology
The terms Marker-Assisted Breeding (MAB), Marker-Assisted Selection (MAS), and Molecular Breeding are often used interchangeably. In this module, we will use Marker-Assisted Breeding (MAB) for the general process, and Marker-Assisted Selection (MAS) for more the specific usage of molecular markers to select for particular traits or genotypes.
