SSR Markers for Common Beans

Beans:

  • Blair et. al 2013 designed primers for a total of 175 microsatellites with more than 20 bp of repeats identified with SSR locator from the collection of 21,000 ESTs from five different tissues of common bean: two types of leaves, nodules, pods and roots Table.
  • Wang et. al 2012 developed 13 microsatellites for P. vulgaris using the Fast Isolation by AFLP of Sequence Containing Repeats (FIASCO) method.
  • Blair et. al. 2011 identified 184 microsatellites using 3,123 EST sequences from leaf and root cDNA libraries. Out of the 184 new SSR loci, 120 new microsatellite markers were developed in the BMc (Bean Microsatellites from cDNAs) series and evaluated for their capacity to distinguish bean diversity in a germplasm panel of 18 genotypes Table.
  • Kalavacharla et. al 2011 analyzed 59,295 454-derived sequences and 92,124 genomic sequences from common bean using MISA to detect 1,516 and 4,517 SSRs from 454-derived and genomic sequences respectively.
